Description

With Michael searching for the term Bod1 in the name a 1000 results were returned but the tree showed the first node to be owned by Jean-Marie and Chris?

I'd assume he was looking for his own data. Even worse, would be if the ownership were mislabeled. Scott Loynton may still remember specifically what happened.

What should happen, though: should users not be able to search for others' data? Perhaps their own data should always be listed before others'?

The fact that Scott listed this as a Bug makes me think that things were actually mislabeled. It's unlikely that either Jean-marie or Chris had actually imported these images (see screenshot) and therefore the state was somehow corrupted.

as josh indicated, wrong owner information associated to the returned objects.

I cannot repeat the bug on Howe. Nevertheless, when I search on Nightshade (that is where the bug was probably originally hit by Michael Porter), I cannot find any images at all, not even my images.
Is this all somehow connected to the fact that the Nightshade has a LDAP based users ?
