Welcome to the OMERO.clients Project.

This is the Trac-based wiki for OMERO.clients development. If you are unfamiliar with Trac, see TracStart for an introduction. For a complete list of pages, see TitleIndex.

The OMERO.clients Project

The OMERO.clients Project is a sub-project of the open source OMERO Project.
OMERO.insight (code name Shoola Java Client) is the official client for use with an OMERO server, that uses Java remote method invocation (RMI) for remoting (see Deployment.

OMERO.insight

OMERO.insight

  • a desktop tool for accessing, manipulating, collaborating, viewing and performing basic measurement on data stored in a centralised OMERO server.
  • is completely written in the Java programming language (Required Java 1.5 or greater).
  • is cross-platform. Ideally suited for real world environments with multiple operating systems and system specs.
  • accesses data remotely, you can manipulate, view data without sitting at the workstations e.g. from your office in the lab or from your favourite coffee shops.

Demo movies of the software give an introduction to the software and illustrate some of its functionalities.

OMERO.editor

OMERO.editor is a standalone tool for editing metadata. For more details, see the OMERO.editor page.

To Download the latest released versions of either the server or clients, visit

Regular builds of the client are performed by Hudson and all results are available at http://hudson.openmicroscopy.org.uk/job/INSIGHT/ , including generated ''Javadocs''.

Current Development Cycle

We are currently working on the Beta3.1 (milestone:3.0-Beta3.1) build, which should be considered Beta software. This intermidate build focuses on bugs fixing and improvement of the thumbnails retrieval

  • The Beta2 milestone (milestone:3.0-Beta2) focused on data management, rendering and basic image processing and measurement.
  • The Beta3.0 milestone (milestone:3.0-Beta2) focused further on image compression and tagging.
