Welcome to the OMERO.clients Project.

This is the Trac-based wiki for OMERO.clients development. If you are unfamiliar with Trac, see TracStart for an introduction. For a complete list of pages, see TitleIndex.

The OMERO.clients Project

The OMERO.clients Project is a sub-project of the open source OMERO Project.
Further information, development downloads, etc. can be found on the OMERO Trac.

OMERO.insight, OMERO.importer and OMERO.editor are completely written in the Java programming language and Required Java 1.5 or greater.

OMERO.insight
OMERO.insight (code name Shoola Java Client) is the official client for use with an OMERO server, that uses Java remote method invocation (RMI) for remoting, see Deployment.
 
  • A desktop tool for managing data stored in a centralised OMERO server. What can you do:
    • The Data Manager provides the user with the GUI functionality to access their data, metadata and visualise large image sets.
    • The Viewer is a tool to visualise and tune 5D images.
    • The Measurement Tool is a tool to perform basic measurement.
  • Is cross-platform. Ideally suited for real world environments with multiple operating systems and system specs.
  • Accesses data remotely, you can manipulate, view data without sitting at the workstations e.g. from your office in the lab or from your favourite coffee shops.

OMERO.importer
OMERO.importer is a desktop for importing images into an OMERO server
 
  • Import over 30 different file formats (see Supported Formats).
  • Queueing function lets you set up an import and then continue with your day.
  • Is cross-platform. Ideally suited for real world environments with multiple operating systems and system specs.
Note: it is preferable to select less than 1000 images' files in a single import.

OMERO.editor
OMERO.editor is a standalone tool for editing metadata.
 
  • A desktop tool for editing medata.
  • Is cross-platform. Ideally suited for real world environments with multiple operating systems and system specs.
Note: A read-only version of OMERO.editor will be part of OMERO.insight in Beta3.1.

Regular builds of the client are performed by Hudson and all results are available at http://hudson.openmicroscopy.org.uk/job/INSIGHT/ , including generated ''Javadocs''.


Current Development Cycle

We are currently working on the Beta4.0 (milestone:3.0-Beta4) build, which should be considered Beta software. Go to RoadMap page to see the previous milestones.
