Converting Projects and Datasets into Tag Groups and Tags
The new tagging system in Beta3.0 uses a different structure from the tagging system in Beta2.3. It has been essential to convert Tags and Tag groups from Beta2.3 into Datasets and Projects in Beta3.0. In order to move these back into the new Tag system in Beta3.0, follow the instructions below. In this example, a Project called "GFP", containing four Datasets, will be converted to a Tag Group called "GFP" containing four corresponding Tags.
First, tag all the images in each Dataset, giving the new tag the same name as the Dataset. Select all the images and add a tag in the metadata panel to the right. Do this for all the Datasets in the project, creating a new tag for each.
Now, create a dummy project to hold all the Datasets that you are converting to tags. This is needed because it's not possible to delete the datasets, so you simply need somewhere to keep them out of the way. I've named mine "oldTags".
Move the Datasets from their current project into the oldTags Project by using the Cut and Paste commands.
The Project that contained your Datasets is now empty, and can be deleted.
Now, you need to go to the tags tab, and organise all the new tags into a tag group, to replicate the previous structure. Highlight all the tags, then go to the metadata panel on the right, and add a new Tag, which will become a Tag group.
Finished! The Tag group, GFP, contains the 4 Tags, and the images they contain can be browsed as shown.
