Installing OmeroGrid on CentOS

Prerequisites

Installing on CentOS 4 or CentOS 5 is straight-forward due to the rpms provided by ZeroC.

From Yum Repository

As root:

  cd /etc/yum.repos.d
  wget http://zeroc.com/download/Ice/3.2/rhel4/zeroc-ice.repo
  yum install ice-python  # Installs other dependencies

From binaries

wget http://zeroc.com/download/Ice/3.2/Ice-3.2.1-bin-rhel-i386.tar.gz
tar xzf Ice-3.2.1-bin-rhel-i386.tar.gz

export ICE_HOME=Ice-3.2.1
export PATH=$ICE_HOME/bin:$PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ICE_HOME/lib
export PYTHONPATH=$ICE_HOME/python

Starting on boot
