Description
The server would benefit from having a scripting engine, which would initially perform simple statistical calculations on the raw image data(this could replace some of the methods now being called from the Measurement tool).
These methods could then be called by the client.
These scripts will be a proof of concept for a more extensive system which will like to external sources:Matlab, Mathematica.
By using the ice framework we get a lot of flexibilty in deployment of the scripts, eventually using ICEGrid to deploy a distributed solution(which manages scheduling and administration).
The final goal of the scripting engine is to be a more general solution than calculating simple stats:
- Linking to Cell profiler to automatically create ROI from the MeasurementTool?
- Classifying cells and images.
- Creating different views of the data, for instance when looking at screen plate well data in the browser a script could decide how the data is organised. This could be extended to the script providing different levels of detail on the plate, popping to a new level of detail as the user zooms in on a portion of the plate.
