Connection testing Task #8386

Opened image viewer then let it time out.

Could still use viewer fine

Closed viewer window and double-clicked on thumbnail in centre pane.

New window opened with login screen and after 1 second pause login screen appeared in original window - screenshot 1

The error message in console stayed black and loading icon continued spinning - screenshot 2

Continued spinning even after logged on again - screenshot 3

Same behaviour when timed out then clicked on “Launch Full Viewer” icon.

Repeated clicks opened additional new windows with login screen and original screen only refreshed to login window when I double clicked on thumbnail in centre pane.

Got 2 error messages that time - see second set below.

Seems like we need the ajaxError (popup.js) included in the omero_image.html (image viewer).

You want me to look at this Ola?

Also, I have reset the sessions.timeout on gretzky back to 1hour since it was a pain for Dom who is using it for development and I thought that timeout testing was not happening right now. If we need to test timeout any more, let me know.

This will be handled by the PING Will is going to implement soon. Assigning ticket to him.

There is not much we can do about getting the login UI in 2 windows if you've timed out then double-click, since we can't check that the connection is alive before we open a new window (delay would be too long).

However, this should be pretty rare once we have the keep-alive ping. See #8550.
