Description (last modified by jburel)
We need to decide what is the default resolution level we want to initialize the viewers. Currently Insight set it to maximum, web set it to minimum.
There is also a mismatch between positioning the viewing window in maximum resolution level. Insight starts from the top left corner, web centralize it.
There is no argument which value is correct. We just need to make clients consistent.
Insight does not allow to display an image higher than 100%.

Scott: you reviewed some tools before the start of "Big images". I have the power point. Could you quickly check what is the start up strategy that those tools are using i.e. top-left corner display, middle etc, level displayed etc. Thanks
If it is too much we will align that in 4.3.1. Note that we don't have a place in the DB to save such settings, we decided to wait for feedback
Thanks

- Top Left: Zoomify, Protein Atlas
- Top Right: Yofla, Algum, Mirax Viewer
- Bottom Right: Google Maps, Panjos, Collaborative Annotation Toolkit for Massive Amounts of Image Data, Hamamatsu
From looking back at these I am not sure there is any real consistency the general difference has been between top left and bottom right. In the applications that have had top left it was because they have had the extra space to add in additional functionality. Zoomify Enterprise version was the best example of this.

For top-left or bottom right you are talking of the birdeye view.
But
- what is the portion of the image displayed by default i.e. center, top-left, etc
- the magnification level i.e. 100%, level matching size of the window
- Do they allow level higher than 100%. etc

This has been moved to the usability investigation as more information is required on the actual use of the big image viewer and what the expectations are across a broad user group.

Scott: Could you check with P Felts what makes more sense for him?
comment:14 Changed 12 years ago by saloynton
The agreed on starting view was 12.5% this was given the current restriction of the slow load time for the further you are zoomed out.
